join our community of change.

Donate your time and help our unhoused neighbors return home.

volunteer now

For 30+ years we’ve had volunteers by our side doing the work necessary to support people experiencing homelessness in Berkeley. Below are just some of the ways you can make a difference.

help prepare meals

Our kitchen is always buzzing — we make 550+ meals a day for our unhoused neighbors. From 7am to 6pm, you can join a 2-hour shift and help with chopping, stirring, assembling, and serving meals.

organize our community closet

We receive generous donations of clothing, shoes, bedding, hygiene products, and more from our community. Come help sort and organize it so our unhoused neighbors can easily find whatever they may need.

join in grassroots outreach

Pick a day to join us in our outreach efforts. Wednesdays we partner with Christ Church in Berkeley and serve coffee and donuts to our unhoused neighbors. Tuesdays and Fridays we host a pop-up pantry in our main shelter parking lot and distribute to-go bags of items that may include anything from water, shelf-stable food to personal care items to anyone in need.

participate in our summer teen program

High school students are invited to spend a week of their summer with us to gain experience supporting the operation of a non-profit organization. This is a great opportunity for students to gain insight into our local unhoused community as well as see what it’s like to work in social services.

This summer’s program is currently full, but you are invited to submit an application and we will add you to our waitlist.
